The Valley Roots Team is happy to help buyers and sellers in the Shenandoah Valley. If you have a question about anything Valley, call us, e-mail us, Facebook message us, text us, tag us, or if none of that works send a carrier pigeon. We’re here when you need us and make an effort to return contact in a timely fashion, even on weekends.
Visit our community website http://valleyrootsteam.com and read our blog. Trust us, it’s not your typical real estate website.
My name is Jeremy Litwiller, and ever since my first trip to the Valley in the early 90’s, I knew this area would some day be the place I called home. After spending four years here for college and meeting my now wife of 18 years, we moved around from Ohio, to Georgia, to Pennsylvania after graduation but with a plan of eventually returning to the Harrisonburg area to raise our family. That plan became reality in 2008 when we moved to Rockingham County with our daughter Sydney who now attends Eastern Mennonite School. My wife, Jennifer, works as the Associate Director of Career and Academic Planning at James Madison University, and I am proud to be a part of the Kline May Team.
Having grown up on an agricultural farm in northern Michigan baling hay, harvesting crops, and clearing fields, my passion has always been the outdoors. I have focused a portion of my business on working with farm-and-land buyers and sellers through my website. This area of real estate is my passion and has been in my blood since I was a young farm-boy in the upper mid-west.
However, in an effort to be more than just the average real estate agent, I intentionally spent many years in the construction industry to be proficient in the residential market too. I’ve done almost every trade involved in building or remodeling a house: I was a framing contractor for several years, I’ve been a plumber, worked in a drywall plant and taught proper installation and finishing techniques, dabbled in electrical, installed fireplaces, siding, and also roofing. So from the foundation and framing to the mechanicals and finishes, I can help you understand what went into the construction of the place you call home. While my main focus is on Rockingham and Augusta Counties, I have also listed and sold property in Page County, Shenandoah County, Highland County, and Rockbridge County.
If you don’t see what you need on this site, don’t ever hesitate to call or shoot me an email. I generally try to answer phone calls and emails seven days a week, so you won’t have to wait long for a response.
During my time in college I was led by a mentor into the real estate industry. Switching majors midstream and sitting for my exam even before finishing school, I knew my goal was to enter the real estate business. So shortly after graduation, I sought out and interviewed with several companies and landed at Kline May Realty, a place I’ve called home since 2002.
While work keeps me busy, our Valley Roots Team was conceived with the idea of a business built on family first. Both Jeremy and I realized work can easily be all consuming, and we make a conscious effort to spend quality time with family while maintaining a high level of commitment with clients
Free time away from work usually entails time outdoors with my wife and son. Whether it’s time on the trail mountain biking, camping in the woods with friends, or simple afternoons spent at one of our local parks. Alternately you might find me at a local restaurant often in front of live music.
As a local guy with deep roots to this area, I’m passionate about the Shenandoah Valley and hope to share that enthusiasm with those I meet.
My name is Jay Michael Harnish; however, most people call me Michael. I grew up in Lancaster, PA but moved here permanently after attending college in the ‘burg. I fell in love with a girl that I met in college; we married, bought our first house, and we had our first child in June 2014.
The Valley has so much to offer a young family: great schools, a vibrant community life, safe neighborhoods, and a city council who genuinely wants the best for the people of their city. Beyond the efforts to resurrect downtown, city council has made many efforts to provide safe biking routes as well as a variety of activity facilities to keep Harrisonburg healthy! And when you can’t find what you are looking for in Harrisonburg, major cities like Charlottesville and D.C. are within reach.
I became a REALTOR to guide others through the process of choosing a house to make into a home because it is a life-altering decision that most only get to make a few times in life. I love houses – the architecture, the construction, the unique characteristics of each home, but more importantly, I love making a house into a home – the decor, the smells, the memories.
I have too many hobbies for too little spare time! Harrisonburg has helped grow many of my hobbies including hiking, biking and frolfing (frisbee golfing). Also, I enjoy playing guitar, making wood projects, renovating my home, and gardening.
I am positive that I, supported by the Valley Roots Team, can help you find your next house or sell the one you’re currently in.
My name is Rebecca Shelly. I was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley and grew up in Massanutten. I attended Eastern Mennonite School and then Eastern Mennonite University, which is where I met my husband, Isaac. For the first two years of our marriage, we lived on EMU’s campus as Residence Directors, living in the dorms and working with undergraduate students. In February 2015, we purchased our first home in the Purcell Park neighborhood of Harrisonburg.
I discovered a love for connecting with people during my studies as a Psychology major. I grew that passion even further during my three years in the wedding industry. Through event planning and managing a local bridal shop, I found that I enjoyed counseling and advocating for couples who were in the process of making emotional decisions about a significant event in their life. I learned quickly the importance of listening to clients’ visions and concerns, asking questions, and practicing consistent and clear communication. I wish to bring these skills to my role as a REALTOR®.
In my free time, you will often find me walking through the park or JMU’s campus with our West Highland White Terrier, Pete, or enjoying the many wonderful Downtown Harrisonburg restaurants. Heritage Bakery is my favorite breakfast spot because their pastry case can’t be beat! It’s also where my husband and I got engaged in 2013.
With nearly over two decades of customer service experience, Anna brings a high level of service to the real estate industry and to Kline May Realty’s Valley Roots Team.
Born in Annapolis, Maryland, her parents relocated to the Staunton when she was 10, making Anna a long time Valley resident. Anna grew up with parents who enjoyed fixing up historic properties with their largest project becoming Harrisonburg’s first official Bed and Breakfast. She worked as an innkeeper helping grow the business for the last from 2008-2015. Anna has always kept up with the real estate market as a hobby and has first hand experience with investment properties.
The Harrisonburg community has been Anna’s home since attending high school at EMHS and college at EMU creating strong ties to the ‘burg. She spent only two years away when she lived in Richmond to attend Virginia Commonwealth University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. Her education and professional knowledge in the communications field coupled with her long time customer service and hospitality experience, made a career in real estate a natural transition.
Her strengths include a very strong ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, natural attention to the needs of her clients, close attention to detail and a love of real estate. Her focus is to help her clients make the most of their investment whether buying or selling residential or investment property.
Anna, along with her husband, Jesse, have three children, Caleb (13) and Lily (11) and Magnolia (2) and live in the city of Harrisonburg. She is active in her church, her children’s school and plays a large part in her husband’s landscape business, Bergey Landscape + Design.
